Stop Second Guessing Yourself

Many times I will hear and see poker players second guess themselves after making the correct play. Sure, you may hit that set of two’s when you fold your hand to Pocket Aces or Pocket Kings but you are still making the correct play. The fact of the matter is that when you see a raise and then a re-raise your small pairs are likely no good in no limit hold’em. That’s why you are programmed to fold those kinds of hands.Of course it is a lot easier after the flop to say you should have played a particular hand but that’s hindsite at its worst. Good poker strategy starts with good fundamentals and that means making the correct plays when you are supposed to make them. Too many times hitting an unlikely hand will cause poker players to want to play a hand that is completely inappropriate and second guessing will begin to flood that players mind.

Hitting a big hand when you have already folded only makes it appear that you made a bad laydown. That doesn’t mean that you did. So keep that in mind and stick to the thought process that gets you paid. Fold the worst hand when you are supposed to and you willl find yourself making the best decisions for your game. No second guessing necessary.
